Haiti...

"May I become a protector for those without protection,
A guide for those who have lost their way,
A ship for those with oceans to cross,
A bridge for those with rivers to cross,
A sanctuary for those in danger,
A lamp for those without light,
A place of refuge for those who lack shelter,
And a servant to all in need."

(Buddhist mentality - the bodhisattva heart)

This little "prayer" that I read on a FB site earlier today reminded me of the hundreds of relief workers that are on their way to desaster-stricken Haiti. I honestly cannot begin to express my utter admiration for the ones that put themselves through emotional and physical pain in order to help those in need. The world would be a much darker place without these people.
It always amazes me how we are capable of both - the most beautiful dreams and the worst nightmares. How we can be unspeakably cruel, capable of the worst atrocities towards one another and how we at the same time go out of our way in order to help and support one another.
We truly are a strange breed...
My heart goes out to those that are affected by this tragedy.
All the strength in the world for those who are in need and for those who try to help...

For all you women...

Let me cut right to the chase folks...

For all you women/girls out there...just to let you know:

In regards to the new abortion laws in Spain (which legalize abortion), the Archbishop of Granada (Spain) has publically stated in his last Sunday Sermon that women who have an abortion can thus be "legally" (at least when it comes to the Canonic Law it seems) abused (raped) by men...On top of this, he compared the new laws to the laws installed by the Nazis.

This is so utterly outrageous that I'm at loss for words...

Abortion isn't pretty and I know women who have had an abortion and I can tell you that it is a decision that you don't take lightly...but regardless of how I would decide given the circumstances, I am 1000 % pro choice...
Yes, 1000%!
I find it outrageous beyond words that some males still believe that a woman deserves to be raped for whatever behavior she displays (short skirts, sexy lipstick, raunchy dancing style...).
NO ONE - woman or man - deserves to be abused (whether the abuse is physical or emotional).
And I also fondly believe that every human being has the right to decide in regards to his/her health, well-being and - at the end of the day - his/her body.

This simply is a disgrace and this archbishop ought to be suspended.

Crimes against women are not petty offences, but criminal acts...in every sense of the word!
